WE INSIST! Records was born with the deep wish to promote a group of musicians having a mutual view in playing music, notwithstanding the different genres they deal with. Their music is based on devotion and patience in order to consacrate their time going on digging and looking for.
Our idea is not addressed to a specific musical genre, as we are not for or against this or that kind of music. Our challenge is to unify what apparently may seem different.
It’s vital for us the meeting with other arts spurring us to create and develop wider projects, trying to set up new interesting cooperations.
Not to be satisfied, doesn’t mean necessary not to be happy but to practice the doubt as a driver towards an active strength in order to meet the surprise.
Let’s go on step by step with the target to grow up trying to keep a countinuous spirit of quest.
PRESS RELEASE (May 25th 2018):
The release of these two records is not a coincidence either : in fact, both albums are a perfect reflection of the label’s essence.
St()ma is the first solo project by drummer Cristiano Calcagnile, as well as Us by Pipeline, Giancarlo Nino Locatelli’s band. Two more albums (they plan to release 4/5 albums every year) are set to be released this Fall/Winter.
Both albums mirror the philosophy of We Insist Records: to select artists who are able to eviscerate, give structure, and to some extent ‘meaning’, to musical concepts.
Although the two albums are different from each other, they are both bearers of a type of jazz whose stylistic characteristics are essentially to improvise and to elude any kind of classification.
Ultimately, the extreme attention to packaging design is a very important aspect of the We Insist project – « We’re passionate about research, » explains founder Maria Borghi « and this leads to the creation of a definite, identifiable style for each album we decide to release. Anything that inspires us becomes a starting point for new projects, new ideas on packaging, as we pursue the concept of artistic creation ».
The albums are also available on vinyl. This choice is not just a consequence of vinyl revival, but also a business philosophy. The audience they aim to reach is an audience able to take time to listen to the records, people who fully appreciate a valuable and carefully designed object that mirrors a precise coherent identity, a label that is not afraid of pursuing ambitious projects.
