The duo Braida Locatelli in the past 25 years of collaboration has always dug into the same “thing” but has never been firm on its positions. With From Here From There they give us a new chapter in the journey that started from the abstraction of “19 Calefazioni” (Takla rec. 1999) and arrived to the songs of “Nel Margine” (Red Toucan 2012). Here too we start from compositions, nine in all, five by Braida, one of which is already present in the last work and two others that we will find in his trio (Cats in the kitchen) and four by Locatelli that were part of the cycle US, the first publication in a box set by WE Insist!
The basic attitude of Braida and Locatelli resonates clearly in the words of cartoonist Gianni Pacinotti: “Things always happen that are beyond my control when I draw, and this phenomenon is what I love most about my job… to witness, at times, the manifestation of a mystery: that of seeing something happen that you hadn’t foreseen, that you didn’t know, that it’s not your ego that determines and that indeed has been able to exist precisely because your ego has vanished for a while.” (from the interview with Gipi by Nicola Mirenzi, Huffpost)

Il duo Braida Locatelli nei trascorsi 25 anni di collaborazione ha in fondo sempre scavato nella stessa “cosa” ma non è mai stato fermo sulle proprie posizioni. Con From Here From There ci regala un nuovo capitolo del percorso che partito dall’astrazione di 19 Calefazioni (Takla rec. 1999) era arrivato ai brani di “Nel Margine” (Red Toucan 2012). Anche qui si parte da composizioni, nove in tutto, cinque di Braida di cui una già presente nell’ultimo lavoro e altre due che ritroveremo nel suo trio (Cats in the kitchen) e quattro di Locatelli che facevano parte del ciclo US, prima pubblicazione in cofanetto della We Insist!
L’atteggiamento di fondo di Braida e Locatelli risuona chiaro nelle parole del cartoonist Gianni Pacinotti: “Succedono sempre delle cose che sfuggono al mio controllo quando disegno, e questo fenomeno è quello che amo di più del mio mestiere… assistere, a volte al manifestarsi di un mistero: quello di vedere accadere qualcosa che non avevi previsto, che non sapevi, che non è il tuo io a determinare e che anzi è potuto esistere proprio perché il tuo io è svanito per un pò.” (dall’intervista a Gipi di Nicola Mirenzi, Huffpost)
