Situations è una delle più recenti produzioni di WE INSIST! Records, un’immersione nel clarinetto solista di Giancarlo “nino” Locatelli, attento conoscitore della musica di Steve Lacy che del grande sassofonista americano ha colto l’essenza attraverso una serie di interpretazioni di sue composizioni.

La galleria milanese Officine Saffi apre i propri spazi a una nuova iniziativa che amalgama Arte e Musica. La sera dell’inaugurazione Giancarlo “nino” Locatelli ha presentato il progetto, eseguendo negli spazi di Officine Saffi alcuni brani contenuti nel disco. La performance musicale è stata accompagnata da tutti gli elementi che compongono l’intero progetto. Autore degli scatti esposti in Officine Saffi, che fanno parte anche del cofanetto situations, è Roberto Masotti, uno dei grandi fotografi che hanno documentato “visivamente” la musica di Steve Lacy e di molti altri autori. Di Pietro Bologna un video realizzato appositamente per l’evento e le fotografie scattate durante la registrazione del cofanetto “US”, primo numero del catalogo della WE INSIST! Records.

E per finire le chine in bianco e nero del poeta e artista visivo, Franco Beltrametti, “irregolare e clandestino della letteratura” (Dario Villa).

Situations is one of WE INSIST! Records’ most recent productions. It is an immersion in the solo clarinet by Giancarlo “nino” Locatelli, an expert well-versed in the music of Steve Lacy, who has captured the essence of the great American saxophonist’s music through a series of interpretations of his compositions.

The Officine Saffi gallery in Milan opens its doors to a new initiative combining Art and Music. On the evening of the inauguration, Giancarlo “nino” Locatelli presented the project by performing some of the album’s tracks in the rooms of the Officine Saffi. The musical performance was accompanied by all of the project’s elements. The author of the photographs displayed in Officine Saffi, which also form part of the situations box set, is Roberto Masotti, one of the great photographers who have “visually” documented the music of Steve Lacy and many other artists. There is a video made specifically for the event by Pietro Bologna and the photographs taken during the recording of the “US” box set, number one of the WE INSIST! Records? catalogue.

Finally, there are the black and white ink drawings by the poet and visual artist, Franco Beltrametti, “literature’s hidden non conformist” (Dario Villa).
